Jovy and Yolly started with a simple ihawan by the highway in 2009 at Davila, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte. Benefiting from the growing tourism industry of the province, their primary customers were tourists on their way to Pagudpud and other destinations in the north. Typically, tourists would stop by and buy some of their grilled seafood for takeout, which these tourists would then eat when they arrived at their destination.
Many of the customers, however, wished they could eat the food with rice while it is warm. The requests for tables by their tiny stall thus began. What began with makeshift tables out of Styrofoam boxes covered with tablecloth became a restaurant when they saved up enough to buy the lot that their restaurant is now standing in.
In 2014, what was initially envisioned to be a simple little eatery was constructed into a restaurant. Every year since then, there have been regular expansions.
Throughout all of these changes, they stayed true to their roots and kept their ihawan going. It still stands right by the highway, in front of the restaurant, ready to serve hungry tourists who want to try their grilled seafood.
Today, Jovy and Yolly’s Resort & Restaurant is somehow still the same ihawan from a decade ago, only bigger and better. Through the years, this establishment has not veered away from their original purpose of serving tourists and meeting their customers’ needs. What started as a simple ihawan where people can get snacks is now a place where you can have a meal, stay the night, host a party, and so much more.
